Turning Principles into Action: Blue Dot Network and PIDG Convene Leaders on Sustainable Infrastructure During LCAW 2025

On 24 June 2025, the Blue Dot Network (BDN) and the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) convened investors, developers, and policymakers at PIDG headquarters in London for a high-level event during London Climate Action Week 2025 (LCAW). The session, titled “From Principles to Action: Strengthening the Pipeline of Sustainable Infrastructure Through Certification of Global Standards”, explored how international certification can accelerate the development of climate-resilient, high-quality infrastructure.

The event featured a dynamic panel including Valahu Philippe (PIDG), Christopher Reeves, Edwin Lau (BDN Secretariat), Pug Bennet (Africa GreenCo), Alexandre Chavarot, and Erich Cripton (Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec). Together, they shared few key insights into how rigorous BDN certification helps move projects from vision to reality:

  • Early project preparation is critical – BDN provides a clear, practical roadmap to help project owners get it right from the start.
  • Certification improves bankability – By promoting regulatory alignment and demonstrating sound risk management, BDN lowers transaction costs and builds investor confidence, particularly in emerging markets.
  • Global standards must align with local context – Local knowledge and adaptation enhance project quality, foster innovation, and support green infrastructure goals.
  • Strong public-sector capacity is essential – Investing in project preparation and management within the public sector is key to expanding the pipeline of investable projects.
  • Certification enables capital flows and recycling – BDN supports both capital inflow and secondary sales, creating opportunities for investors with varying risk profiles.
  • Better asset-level data is still needed – Improving evidence on risk and return is vital, and generating it lies at the heart of BDN’s long-term mission.

🎬 A recap video captured the energy in the room, showing how BDN is actively turning principles into action for more inclusive and resilient global infrastructure.

BDN and PIDG extend their thanks to all speakers, participants, and partners for advancing this important conversation. As global demand for sustainable infrastructure continues to grow, international cooperation and credible certification are proving essential to scale up investment with confidence.
